Q. What was your favorite prop from the ep?
A. The trephine (the drill for Barton's skull). 💀

Q. Loved changes from book; was strain/discord added for more depth/realism or for suspense for them to rediscover each other
A. Yes, strain/discord built in to explore/demonstrate how each has changed after 20 years apart in vastly different centuries.

Q. What was the premise of spending the amount of time on Claire as a surgeon?
A. C's career is a huge part of her life, seeing her in action helps underscore her jarring transition back to 18th century life.

Q. Claire wanting her own establishment isn't mentioned in Voyager.U think she thought about this before going back to the 1700s?
A. We think she probably did consider whether there was a way to continue as a healer.

Q. Do you think @Outlander_STARZ will ever release all of the episodes at once? Its torture waiting week to week!
A. It's torture for us as well! We're dying for you all to see them! 🙂

Q. Did you choose the song @JohnBell sang?
A. Karen Campbell chose the song. It's a Scottish folk song called, "Come Hap Me With Thy Petticoat." 🎼

Q. How come this was cut?Was it cuz of time or to make the tension between Jame & Claire bigger in the face of 1st wife reveal ?

A. We made the decision in editing to end on the cliffhanger of the fire and Jamie having another wife.

Q. What was the reason for showing so much of the actual surgery Claire performed? It was a short episode too🤔
A. We found the surgery interesting.

Q. Jamie's line "it was as if the sun returned and cast out the darkness" is a lovely reference to "The Wedding"
A. Yes, a callback to "The Wedding."

Q. So we all need to know, is Ian still a technically a virgin or was the act completed? 🤔
A. Mission accomplished. He's no longer a virgin. 😱

Q. I guess my question is: how do you keep track of the deviations? I imagine a massive whiteboard 😂😂
A. Yes. We have two researchers and a writers' assistant tracking all changes and continuity.

Q. Did the photos of Brianna burn in the print shop? 📸
A. No. They weren't in the print shop.

Q. Jamie gave them back to Claire to keep in her "bat suit", so "no".
A. Exactly! 🙂

Q. Will Claire ever come to learn or understand just how much Jamie suffered at first during those 20 years?
A. Yes. They have much to catch up on and it plays over several episodes.

Q. Do you think Jamie was more upset with the way Bree was raised or with the fact that he wasn't part of it?
A. We think he just really missed being a part of it.

Q. Was it your intention to create tension between Claire and Jamie...show that they both have some concerns and issues?
A. There would be a natural period of adjustment for any couple separated for 20 years!

Q. How do ye come up w/ the episode titles (book/s vs script)? Have ye ever debated an ep title?
A. Writers usually name their own episodes. "Crème de Menthe" is one of our favorites.

Q. Love S3 so far, but my ? is: doesn’t it make the writing process harder for future eps, when u stray so far from book material
A. We make adjustment as we see fit to adapt for TV. Sometimes we stick closer to the book than others.

Q. Did the printer meet its demise, then, in the fire? Great episode! You're on fire! 😁
A. Yes. These presses burned. But don't count Bonnie out.

Q. Where do you get the idea to have every intense scene between Claire and Jamie get intrupted by something?
A. The book. 😉

Q. Any chance we can get 1 extended episode in S4 or possibly a full hour, all the time?
A. If it was up to us, ALL of them would be longer.

Q. I've loved S3 up until this point, but 307 left me cold. C shrewish & bitchy, J a lying cad? C'mon, Outlander!
A. There are tartan shawls available at the Outlander store. 🙂

Q. Are there any scenes from the ep that you loved that didn't make the cut?
A. Ironically, the ep was short so we went back & filmed the sc. of F/YI selling casks which had been deleted from an early draft

Q. Where did Fergus hear about the "rumors" about his Milady taking lives?
A. From the rumor mill. 😜

Q. Do you enjoy ripping our hearts out+stomping on them? that line from the episode 7 preview 😭💔
A. Yes. It gives us joy. 😀
